Pre-season starts as early as March, regular season is from May-October, and season extension runs until Christmas. Availability during at least two of these time periods is ideal. Current Openings 

NEW YORK CITY MARKET MANAGER, FULL TIME

This job is designed for the spirited, energetic, market loving individual!  You will be driving a refrigerated truck to Brooklyn twice weekly, staying the night, rising early, and selling our organic veg at farmers markets throughout Brooklyn and Manhattan.  In 2018, we ran a pilot program for this position and it was highly successful.  You have to be able to drive large delivery vans, endure long hours, maintain positivity, manage money and market staff twice a week.  Our farm is 5 hours from NYC, which requires the market manager "north" to work closely with our full time "south" manager living in NYC area.  No prior knowledge of the city geography is needed.  Must have extensive farmers market experience selling vegetables!  This position is paid very well, housing here in Keeseville is provided if interested.  This position has many areas of improvement to be made and you’re going to help make them.  Come make history at the Crow!  Do not apply for this job if you are not willing and capable to work long days or are not comfortable making fast paced decisions at markets.  DO apply if you are ready to see the future.

LOCAL MARKET MANAGER/FIELD WORKER (May - October)

This job requires the management of 2-3 local Adirondack farmers markets, 10-12 hours a day as well as field harvest and work 2 days a week.  This job is for someone motivated, outgoing, and who likes working with people and can manage themselves and others.

FULL SEASON FIELD WORKER (May - October)


Fledging Crow Vegetables, LLC is a 45-acre Certified Organic & community-focused farm nestled between the Adirondack Mountains and Lake Champlain. The farm specializes in diversified organic vegetable production and prides itself on creating a stimulating, creative, and welcoming atmosphere for its diverse crew each season.

We are currently seeking employees available from early May through the end of October. On-farm housing and food will be provided as needed, as well as weekly pay commensurate with experience.

Employees at  Fledging Crow Vegetables will have the opportunity to learn the following sustainable agriculture skills and techniques:

  • Production for CSA and Market Share models

  • Production for local and regional wholesale accounts

  • Organic High Tunnel Management

  • Integrated Pest Management (IPM)

EXPECTATIONS

Employees will be expected to work 6-days per week. Work begins at 7am each Monday – Saturday, with a significant lunch break from noon to 1 pm. Work goes until the tasks for the day are completed, often ending by 6pm but occasionally longer days are required.  A positive attitude and good work ethic are essential to success. Employees are expected to show up with appropriate gear including farm boots (waterproof), durable working pants, a warm hat, a sun hat, sunglasses, a rain jacket, and a headlamp. Lunch is prepared for the crew each day using local organic ingredients. Apprentices will be able to prepare their own dinner using ingredients provided by the farm. Fledging Crow maintains a reliable WiFi connection for apprentices to use. There are two farm cars available for employees to borrow as needed. A climbing gym, hiking trails, swimming, bike trails, and a farm brewery are all located within 3 miles of the farm for apprentices to enjoy.
